Desperate Measures in Desperate Times: Congress Asking Aspirant to Sign BondsWhen Congress Party has announced Telangana five years ago, no one would have expected the party to reach the stage where it is today. Congress has sacrificed its chances in Andhra Pradesh hoping that it would reap benefits in Telangana which is not the case in 2014 and 2018 is equally worse.

KCR is now plotting to deprive the main opposition status to Congress by unleashing Operation Akarsha which was earlier used by YSR against TRS. In the wake of this, Telangana Congress is reduced to asking its aspirants of ZPTC and MPTC elections to sign an affidavit if they want to get Congress Tickets.

The affidavit will be executed on a Bond Paper stating that they will not defect from the party and will abide by the party rules in ZP Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson elections. The Bond allows the party to initiate civil or criminal proceedings against the candidate if he or she changes the party.

This only indicates the sad state of affairs in Telangana. We can call it as the pathetic state of Congress and as well as a horrendous situation forced by TRS with a motto of erasing the Opposition in the State. And coming to the bond execution, legal experts say it will once again boil to anti-defection laws which can be twisted by the ruling parties.
