Telangana government has earlier planned to hold its first-ever global investors meet in Hyderabad between January and March in a bid to attract investments from across the world. But then the meet is likely to put on hold as industries department recommended that it is not the time to hold the meet due to Demonetization.
The state government will be keenly watching the outcome of the global investors meet to be held in Gujarat from January 10 before taking a call. Trade and industry bodies are still assessing the implications of Demonetization and the clarity on the meet will emerge only after the normalcy is returned.
The Gujarat’s investors meet will help all the states to check how companies, global and Indian, were viewing demonetization in terms of impact on the economy. Telangana government is planning to send a team to the meet to study and observe how things are moving. Telangana hopes to secure big investments in the manufacturing sector with this meet.
The last global investors meeting in Hyderabad happened in the United state in January 2012 when the Telangana agitation is at its peaks. But then not much of the investments are actually realized due to the political instability prevailing then. So, Telangana government is taking this meeting very prestigious especially as the state is ranked top in the Ease of Doing Business.
