Andhra Pradesh Government had withdrawn the 5% Reservation to the Kapu Community proposed by the previous government. The Government has clarified that it is not feasible to grant 5% Reservation to the Kapu Community in the 10% Quota earmarked to the Economically Weaker Sections.
YSR Congress Kapu Leaders have met Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and apprised him of the situation in which TDP is propagating in the community that the government is anti-Kapu. To do the damage control, the Chief Minister appointed a three-member committee to look into the issue.
Minister Kannababu, MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarulu, and MLA Ambati Rambabu are the members of the committee. They will look into the issue and will suggest the steps to address the issue. On the other side, Kapu Strongman Mudragada Padmanabham also dashed a letter on the issue criticizing the government’s stance.
Kapu Community voted en masse to YSR Congress in the recent elections despite the presence of a so-called Kapu party in the form of Janasena.
