Movie Theatres openingA crucial meeting of the representatives of the Cinema and Multiplex Industries Association will sit with Union Home Secretary on September 8th via Video Conferencing. The Government of India will take their views regarding the re-opening of the theaters.

There is divided opinion in the Exhibition Sector regarding when and how to open the cinemas. The Single Screen Theaters are not in favor of opening in this condition as it will be difficult to meet the expenses with limited capacities and Corona Control measures.

Multiplex Chains desperately want to open so that they can save their falling share prices. On the other side, there is a challenge regarding content availability. Notable filmmakers are not keen on releasing their films in theaters when only limited capacities are allowed.

Cinema Industry already decided to skip theatrical release in 2020 unless something positive happens drastically. A commonly agreed Roadmap will be finalized. Buzz is that the cinemas may be allowed to re-open from October 1st.
