Coronavirus Outbreak has shattered the economies across the globe. All the businesses were closed indefinitely and are bleeding losses. There is no sector that is unaffected by this crisis. Media is the worst hit due to Pandemic. Print media has no buyers fearing transmission of the virus.
Electronic media has no revenue from ads since the businesses were done. There are reports of layoffs and pay cuts etc in every media house. With no normalcy in sight, things are going to be more worse in the coming days. Experts say that there is a danger of upright media houses closing shutters in the coming months.
“Only those media houses like Sakshi which will have the support of the Governments will flourish. We already see Governments favoring their own media. This is a dangerous trend where people will not know opposite views. Governments will push their own media. Only such media houses will survive the current economic crunch,” experts see the situation.
The total Coronavirus cases in the country are over 85,000. The contagious virus has claimed around 2,700 lives so far. The initial growth projections for India by financial institutions and brokerages for 2020-21 were at around 5-6.5 percent but with the Pandemic, the country is expected to grow only between 0 to -2%.
