The buzz in the political circles is very high that Telangana Joint Action Convenor Professor Kodanda Ram may be the Congress’ candidate for the Medak Lok Sabha. In the last elections, TRS offered ticket to Kodanda Ram but he decline to contest. However Congress had unleashed a vociferous campaign to rope him in to the fray at any cost since the move may revive the party’s prospects in the state.

Kodanda Ram was a very active participant of the Telangana movement and demands high respect from Telangana people. His candidature will not only win the Medak seat but also will bring a strong opposition to the government. Congress high command believes that Telangana people are currently in the mood of not accepting any negatives on KCR and this will change only if Kodanda Ram speaks out against the government. It is not yet known how far Kodanda Ram will be tempted to take this offer.

In case, Kodanda Ram refuses to contest. Congress is planning to field senior leader Jaipal Reddy who recently lost the election after contesting Mahabubnagar Parliament. Former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha also pressed his claim for the ticket with the party high command. The Medak Parliament seat fell vacant due to the resignation of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. KCR won from both Medak Lok Sabha and Gajwel Assembly segment, retained the Gajwel seat and went on to become the CM.
