Congress Wins Yet Another Seat in KarnatakaCongress Party has won the election in Bengaluru’s Jayanagar Constituency in Karnataka. The Congress candidate won over the BJP candidate by nearly 4000 votes. The election in Jayanagar was deferred because of the death of BJP candidate BN Vijayakumar.

The BJP has fielded Mr. Vijayakumar’s brother BN Prahlad and the Congress candidate is a senior leader and former minister Ramalinga Reddy’s daughter Sowmya Reddy. JDS has pulled out its candidate and supported Congress here.

Jayanagar has over 70% middle class and upper-middle-class voters. It is also one of the posh residential areas in Bengaluru with good public amenities. These factors actually favored the BJP in previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. But losing the seat worries BJP now.
