Congress' Vice-President Candidate Gopalakrishna Gandhi - A Terrorist Sympathizer?16 Opposition Parties have announced Gopalakrishna Gandhi as their candidate for the upcoming Vice-President Elections. He is the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, a retired IAS officer, and diplomat, who earlier worked as the Governor of West Bengal.

However, Gopalakrishna Gandhi also has the dark side filing the mercy petition with the President of India for Terrorist Yakub Memon who was convicted over his involvement in the 1993 Bombay bombings and was later hanged to death in 2015. Social media is calling him a Terrorist Sympathizers.

Congress is hoping that the Gandhi family image will get him the support of the neutral parties. The election to the post of Vice-President will be held on August 5. The current Vice-President is Mohammad Hamid Ansari, since 11 August 2007, and re-elected on 7 August 2012.
