Congress to Disappoint KCR and Chandrababu Naidu? Both the Chief Ministers of Telugu States – Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhara Rao are pressurizing the government to move the delimitation bill so that the Assembly seats can be increased before the 2019 elections and the defectors from other parties can be accommodated.

The UPA Government back then put the delimitation in AP Reorganization Act but now Congress is trying its level best to stall the bill when placed in the Parliament. Congress has cleared that it will lay a condition that all other promises by Manmohan Singh are to be implemented before taking up delimitation.

As of now, under every MP segment, there are seven Assembly segments. They will be increased to nine which will take the MLA seats in AP to 225 (175 now) and in Telangana to 153 (119 now). The condition of Congress is as such that it can not field candidates in all the 175 seats of AP in 2019.

In Telangana as well, the party has got no use due to the delimitation. So, the increase of Assembly seats is not in their priority list. NDA has no majority in Rajya Sabha. So the support of other parties will be crucial to moving the bill if it is introduced.
