The upcoming Telangana Elections will definitely have an impact on Andhra Pradesh Elections, Leaders in Opposition – YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Pawan Kalyan believe. They think that the result of the parties there will have a bearing on the minds of the voters in Andhra Pradesh as well. As a result, they do not want to take the risk.
YSR Congress announced that it is backing off from the election and said it will concentrate on the state for 2024 elections. On the other side, Pawan Kalyan is still thinking about contesting the elections even as the nominations began. In a way, Janasena also decided to let go this election.
Both of them feel that Chandrababu Naidu has taken a huge gamble by contesting the elections in alliance with Congress and any loss will write off TDP in Andhra Pradesh as well. If Mahakutami is able to dethrone KCR, it will be a huge fillip for TDP in Andhra Pradesh Elections as well as Chandrababu’s image in the National Politics.
TDP estimates that any loss here will not have a bearing in Andhra Pradesh since everyone knew that TDP (TS) has no stakes whatsoever in Telangana after the Bifurcation and the party has nothing to lose there. But then, if KCR wins, Chandrababu Naidu will have to fight one more enemy when the state goes for elections in 2019.
