Chandrababu Naidu, Kiran Kumar Reddy Behind Hyderabad Metro IgnoredThe first phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, the 30 km stretch from Miyapur to Nagole is scheduled to be inaugurated on 28 November 2017 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But then, two men who are behind the Metro Rail Project were not being invited to the inauguration.

Metro Rail Project was first initiated by the then Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu in 2003. The state government got its nod from the Union Urban Development Ministry in October 2003 for the project and roped in DMRC to conduct a survey.

But then, the YSR Government that came later took time till 2008 to call for the bids. And Satyam Ramalinga Raju’s Mytaas won the bid but failed to achieve financial closure for the project as per schedule By March 2009. Kiran Kumar Reddy government cancelled the bid and called for a rebidding process in which L&T emerged as the lowest bidder.

Kiran’s Government proactively pursued the project but it was delayed due to separate state agitation and later due to the apprehensions of the new government. Many say that Chandrababu and Kiran should have been invited to the event but political compulsions have their say.
