The issue of increase in Assembly seats has come forward once again all of sudden. CM Chandrababu and K Chandrasekhara Rao have hinted about the center being in favor of it. Rumours are that a decision on it will be taken in two weeks.
A bill in this aspect should be tabled in the upcoming Budget session of Parliament the next year and should be passed. Center has come to a conclusion that the bill can be passed without making a constitutional amendment.
As of now, under every MP segment, there are seven Assembly segments. They will be increased to nine which will take the MLA seats in AP to 225 (175 now) and in Telangana to 153 (119 now). The ruling parties in both the states are urging to increase them which will ensure that the Jump Jilanis of the other parties will be easily accommodated.
