Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has published the list of the richest Chief Ministers of India. ADR said that Chandrababu Naidu with 177 Crores of assets is the richest Chief Minister while Manik Sarkar of Tripura is the poorest.
This has led to a huge controversy while Opposition Parties and BJP which has recently become against TDP try to mudsling Chandrababu Naidu. Going into the facts, there is nothing news in ADR’s Report. 177 Crore Assets are the total belonging to Naidu’s family.
These are the numbers declared by the Chief Ministers themselves in their election affidavits. That means there is no finding or investigative journalism by ADR and earning money is definitely not illegal in India. We all know Chandrababu’s family is in business for a long time now.
When we look at the ranks of some of the Chief Ministers in the list, we definitely know that declaring assets to Election Commission in their Election Affidavits is more of a joke. There are doubts if this list is brought out all of sudden to taint Naidu’s image as he is fighting against the center for the state.
