We are less than Two and Half Months away from Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections and the heat is already on. The Last four weeks have been a literal duel between Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Chandrababu did not give the Opposition a chance by announcing back to back welfare schemes.
All the announcements were made back to back to ensure that the ruling party is continuously in news and now their implementation is also planned as such to keep them fresh in the memory of the people until elections. Chandrababu Naidu may have got inspired from KCR wherein Raithu Bandhu money was deposited to several accounts even the day before the voting.
All the schemes have been formally started so that they were made Under Implementation Schemes by the time Election Code kicks in. On the other side, Jagan is no less in the duel. He hogged the limelight with defections. As many as two TDP MLAs and two MPs have switched their loyalties to YSR Congress in the last few days.
Public Perception is created in favour of YSR Congress giving a feeling that the Jump Jilanis are moving towards the green pastures. Interestingly, some of these leaders were disgruntled with TDP for a long time but these defections are timed in such a way that they come at the right time and hit the morale of TDP. All in all, interesting times ahead in Andhra Pradesh and this competition is still wide open.
