Badvel YSR Congress MLA, Dr. Venkata Subbaiah passed away in March. The By-election has been delayed due to the pandemic. The election commission is likely to announce a date very soon. Even before the schedule is out, Chandrababu Naidu has announced the candidate.
Obulapuram Rajasekhar Reddy who contested and lost from TDP in 2019 will be the candidate this time as well. The early announcement will mean the candidate will have time to begin work early. In Tirupati By-election as well, Chandrababu announced the candidate well in advance.
TDP lost but put up a better show in Tirupati. This is unlike the usual Chandrababu Naidu who delays finalizing candidates until the last minute. The delay has even costed some seats to TDP in 2019 elections. Looks like the TDP supremo has learned a lesson but the hard way.
Along with Badvel, Huzurabad in Telangana is also likely to go for the By-election.
