Chandra Babu Naidu is banking on BCs present in huge number in Telangana to regain the lost glory of Telugu Desam Party in the region. The leader has called for making a BC as Chief Minister and looks like it is working well in Telangana. Moving further, Chandra Babu is trying to rope in BC Welfare Association President, R.Krishnaiah in to Telugu Desam and is trying to field him from Chevella Lok Sabha constituency.
On the other side, Krishnaiah is also in favour of contesting election but is eyeing to contest for Assembly since there is a chance for a BC becoming Chief Minister. Telugu Desam Party is the first party in the state to announce BC declaration. The party will be giving 100 Assembly seats to BCs in the coming elections. Chandra Babu is also working in that direction.
There are 144 castes in BCs. 80 per cent of the BCs of Andhra Pradesh were in Telangana. Traditionally, BCs are in favour of Telugu Desam Party but their priorities changed when Chiranjeevi floated Praja Rajyam Party. Now Chandra Babu is trying to woo them once again. Lets see if BCs accounting for more than 50% population (in AP) bring back Telugu Desam Party back to power!
