Challenges Await BJP down the South Post Venkaiah Naidu EraNow that Venkaiah Naidu is elevated as Vice-President of India, there are indications that RSS is keen on making drastic changes in the Party’s Leadership in the South. Ram Madhav, general secretary in charge of J&K and the northeast may be handling South Affairs going forward.

RSS is seriously pursuing him to oversee the south with an eye on strengthening the party. Madhav’s First assignment will be the Karnataka Assembly Elections due the next year. Madhav will also give a new look to the Party’s Leadership in AP and Telangana.

Madhav is instrumental in BJP forming the governments in Assam and Jammu & Kashmir. The Challenge in the South is even difficult as BJP has presence only in Karnataka. BJP will have to become a considerable force before even thinking of Main Opposition.

BJP is mulling to go independently in Telangana. There are rumours about the party reaching out to YSR Congress if necessary in Andhra Pradesh but then such move will have implications at the national level. So, the road is not easy for BJP down the South.
