Central government had released 300 Crore for Polavaram Project works. The money reached Polavaram Authority Account and will be very soon forwarded to the state exchequer. Until now, the center had released 400 Crore for the project in this financial year. It is learnt that the center may release another 900 Crore by the end of next month.
If that happens it will take the total to 1300 Crore. The project needs a minimum of 2000 Crore per year. The 300 Crore released now was promised in September and it took this much time for the funds to release. The state government had spent 2540 Crore on Polavaram till January. The center promised to reimburse whatever money spent by the state government but is delaying that.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is repeatedly following up with the center for the release of funds for this crucial project but center’s cold response is hurting the timely completion of the project which is said to be the lifeline of the state.
