Center's Clarity on Second Capital in HyderabadMinister of State for Home Affairs, Kishan Reddy clarified the rumors of making Hyderabad the Second Capital of the country. “There is no such proposal with the center as of now,” Kishan Reddy told the media. The minister found fault with some television channels conducting debates on the issue.

He remarked that the government does not take decisions on social media. Interestingly, the debate was recently opened by CH Vidyasagar Rao, the former Governor of Maharashtra. He joined BJP recently after completing his tenure as the Governor.

The proposal was first put forward by late B.R. Ambedkar in his book, ‘Thoughts on the Linguistic States’, published in 1955. Ambedkar stressed the need for Hyderabad as the second capital of the country in chapter 11, to bridge the north-south divide.

Meanwhile, the Winter Session of the Parliament will begin from tomorrow. During the last session, the Center moved key bills like Triple Talaq and Abolition of Article 370.
