Andhra Pradesh was promised a central agriculture university in the State Reorganization Act. Accordingly 200 Crores was alloted in Central budget to establish such universities in AP, Rajasthan and Horticulture Universities in Tamil Nadu and Harayana.
The State Government has written several letters to the Center offering land at Lapham, Guntur district asking the Center to start the university. State government even offered temporary buildings in case the construction of University takes time.
But recently the Center has written a letter that the Central Agriculture University can not be setup specially for a single state. The center offered financial help if the state sets up any agricultural university. AP state government is planning to setup NG Ranga Agricultural University in Lapham with central funds now.
