Central Government had sanctioned about Rs 460 crore for taking up construction of buildings for National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari by 2019-20. NIT is currently run in a makeshift building offered by a private local engineering college.
The Premiere institution had already completed two academic years and the third one is currently in progress. The Central Public Works Department will take up the works to develop infrastructure to the NIT by calling bids and fixing agency to execute works under its supervision.
The state government has allotted 202 acres land near airfield at Tadepalligudem to set up AP-NIT campus and it had taken up construction of the compound wall to secure it. NIT is offering eight courses and more will be added depending upon the demand from the students.
