Faggan Singh KulasteMinister of State for Rural Development and Steel of India, Faggan Singh Kulaste is in Vishakapatnam and made crucial comments on the Privatization of the Vishaka Steel Plant.

“We are not going ahead with the Privatization of Vishaka Steel Plant for now. We are trying to strengthen RNIL first. We will bring the Steel Plant to operate to its full capacity. We will talk to RNIL management and workers’ associations. Telangana Government participating in the bidding is just a political strategy,” the Union Minister said.

BRS has started taking credit for this already. “Just because KCR entered the fray to save the steel plant. The Central Government dropped this proposal just to deny the political credit to KCR,” they are claiming.

The timing of the Central Government suits the narrative of the BRS.

Keeping the credit issue aside, it is relief for the people of Andhra Pradesh and Steel Plant workers that the Privatization is put on hold.

Impending elections in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh may have influenced this decision. There is a danger of the issue coming back after the elections if BJP comes back to power.
