Center Govt Stays Firm on AP Bhavan Between Andhra Pradesh and TelanganaThe Central government finally puts its leg down and clarified its stance on one issue pertaining to AP and Telangana. Regarding the division of assets of AP Bhavan, Center has clarified that all the assets outside AP should be divided in Population Ratio according to Section 48 of AP Reorganization Act.

Center wrote a letter to Telangana government earlier this month and confirmed that their decision in this issue will be final and binding. Telangana has laid the stake on the AP Bhavan in Delhi saying that the land belongs to Hyderabad State in 1953 and the Government of India took it from Nizam.

Telangana government argued that all the Nizam assets belong to Telangana state. With the latest stance of the center, it will be divided on population ratio. The Union Home Secretary opined that Telangana state was formed on the basis of the AP Reorganisation Act; and if the sharing of the assets of AP Bhavan were to be decided based on historical evidence, then history would have to be dug up on many other matters as well which would only complicate things for the new state.

It is good to see that Center finally playing a pro-active role. Until now, BJP led central government is skeptical about taking sides as it would hamper the prospects of the party in both the Telugu States. That attitude complicated many issues.
