t-hub-hyderabad-special-status-center-grant-telanganaTelangana’s T-Hub, the largest incubator for startups in the country is all set for a big boost from the center as it is going to get the ‘technology business incubator’ status which will also bring the much-needed funds for the expansion. TBI status is normally given to startups in prestigious institutions like IITs, IIMs etc.

After getting the status, T-Hub will get Rs 6 crore grant initially and later up to Rs 50 crore from the Center. We are told that the national committee of the Centre’s science and technology department has recommended TBI status to T-Hub and if it goes through, T-Hub would become the first non-academic institution in the country to get this status.

Telangana government sources say that the center is also in favour of granting T-Hub as one among the ‘centres of excellence’ and grant funds for future expansion activities. The incubator will get funds from the center over a period of five years based on the performance. Since T-Hub is established only a year ago, it will get a grant up to 50 Crore.

The state government is proud that T-Hub performance within a year of its launch and coming forward to extend grants liberally for its future expansion activities. Spread over 60,000 square feet, the six-storey building is the starting point of the new state’s initiative to groom young entrepreneurs. It is set up with an intention of making Hyderabad as the desired destination for start-ups in the coming years.
