bhogapuram-airportThe proposed greenfield international Airports which is slated to come up on the outskirts of the city at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district had got all the technical approvals from the Center. Against the earlier planned 15000 acres, the airport will now come in 5040 acres.

Out of which 1167 acres belong to the government and the rest of the 3873 acres have to be acquired from the 10 villages and associated hamlets in and around Bhogapuram. Out of this 3873 acres, 470 acres are of non-agricultural land and is privately held.

The State government is giving both the options of Land Pooling and Land Acquisition to the land losing parties and they can decide whichever is beneficial to them. As many as 10,241 residents living in and around the area will have to be evacuated and around 2,500 houses will be built in the neighbouring region for them.
