Center Applies Brakes For New Districts In APYS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government hurriedly announced the reorganization of districts in the state. The existing thirteen districts will be carved into twenty-six and the Government has given one month’s time for any objections.

Meanwhile, the Government in Governor’s Republic Day speech mentioned that the administration in the new districts will begin from Ugadi. But then, the Center has applied brakes to this. According to a report in Andhrajyothy, the Union statistics department has written to the Chief Secretaries of all states not to change the boundaries of existing villages and districts until June.

This is to ensure that the census rightly happens. The census was supposed to be completed the last year but it has got delayed due to the pandemic and vaccination. That means the Ugadi target will be missed. But then, the state government can do the exercise regarding the reorganization of the districts till then.

Meanwhile, the Government is collecting information about various objections. The district collectors were orally instructed to send information about various protests happening in their respective districts.
