With Siva Rama Krishnan committee not in favour of the state capital between Vijayawada and Guntur, Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu is caught up in two minds and is thinking of wider consultations before taking up the final decision. Siva Rama Krishnan committee has warned that the capital will burn a hold in the state exchequer which is already deficit.

Chandra Babu now wants to hold consultations with all the sections of the state and with all the parties in Assembly before taking the final call. Chandra Babu wants to be extremely careful as he does not want any bad blood between Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema over this issue. The AP CM is not also clear on Center’s help as a state capital between Vijayawada and Guntur will cost 1.2 Lakh Crore. Previously during the division of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the then NDA government had given only Rs 738 crore to Chhattisgarh, Rs 200 crore to Jharkhand and Rs 438 crore to Uttarakhand for constructing their new capitals.
