Godavari districts played a major role in helping Telugu Desam Party to come to power this time. TDP and its alliance partner BJP together had won 27 of the total 34 MLA seats in the two districts. These two districts made the difference between TDP and YSR Congress. So Chandra Babu duly rewarded both the districts by allotting crucial cabinet berths to the leaders of these districts.

Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa, a first time MLA is given the crucial deputy CM and Home Minister. This is the first time such crucial portfolios are allotted to a Godavari district MLA. Yanamala Rama Krishnudu of East is given the important finance ministry. Peethala Sujatha of West is given women welfare portfolio while BJP MLA from Tadepalligudem, Manikyala Rao is given the vital Endowments ministry.
