CBI-Kothapalli-GeethaFormer Araku MP Kothapalli Geetha has been arrested by the CBI. She has been arrested on charges of defrauding Punjab National Bank (PNB) to the tune of Rs.42.79 crores.

The Former YSR Congress MP was arrested in Hyderabad on Tuesday night and shifted to Bengaluru. After her arrest, she was taken to Osmania Hospital for a medical examination.

After that Kothapalli Geetha was produced in the CBI court. The court sentenced Geetha and her husband P. Ramakoteswara Rao to five years in prison and fined One Lakh Rupees.

Along with them, bank officials BK Jayaprakashan and KK Aravindakshan were sentenced to five years in jail. Visvesvara Infra Pvt Ltd has been fined Rs.2 lakhs.

On the other hand, her lawyers have filed a bail petition in Telangana High Court.

In 2014, Kothapalli Geetha, who won as MP from Araku on behalf of the YSR Congress, later left the party. In 2018, a political party was formed in the name of Jana Jagruthi. Later she joined BJP and her party was also merged into it.
