Can India Afford to Relax the Lockdown? We are on the Eleventh Day of the Three Weeks Nationwide Lockdown. The country did register more than 3000 cases already and a majority of them due to a Religious event in Delhi in mid-March. Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week hinted that the Lockdown may be relaxed in phases from April 14th.

However, things changed drastically afterward. The number of cases is increasing by leaps and bounds. So far even the results of all those who attended the Jamaat event and their close contacts did not arrive. After that, we have the test results of the other contacts of Tablighi attendees.

In all probability, we will see huge loads of cases in the next week to 10 days if not more. At this stage, India can not afford to relax the Lockdown after April 14th even though it is financially taxing on the Governments. Experts say that as things stand now, India should be in the Lockdown at least till April 30th even to think of relaxation.

As per the update this morning, the number of cases in Andhra Pradesh has reached 180. The last update of Telangana came last night, the total number of cases was put at 229. Again, the majority of the cases from that Religious Event itself.
