Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy tabled a budget worth 2,56,257 Crore for 2022-23 in the assembly today. In his budget speech, Buggana did not mention anything about the much-hyped three capitals.
There are no allocations as well. It is interesting to note that the Government did not mention the three capitals in the recent Governor’s address as well.
The Governor only mentioned that the government is committed to decentralizing and inclusive governance. Probably, this indicates the confusion the government is in.
After an adverse judgment in the high court, the government has no clarity about how to approach the issue. The Government did not go for an appeal as well. There are rumors that the CM may want to put the issue on the back burner until after the 2024 elections.
During the election campaign, YSR Congress may claim that Chandrababu stopped the decentralization by managing the systems.
But the tragedy is with the people of Andhra Pradesh not knowing the status of their capital even ten years of the state bifurcation.
