There is a huge uproar from a section of people criticising huge spending of Indian government on statue. That is not a big deal but an MP from Conservative Party in UK slammed India for such an expenditure and questioned the rationale by India seeking funds from Britain for special projects. He found spending 3000 crores on construction of Statue of Unity absurd and nonsense as Britain donated more than £1 billion to India in the years for country’s development.
He also criticised that Indian government is misleading its people. He recalled that UK has rendered financial assistance for several schemes in the last five years and stated that the funds were for projects in the Renewable Power generation sector and for helping rise religious tolerance among people.
The MP’s criticism on India’s internal issue is drawing a flak from BJP government. He opined Britain shouldn’t be contributing to India anymore.
