Narasapuram MP Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju has been arrested in a sedition case for criticizing the State Government and those in power. The MP also alleges that he has been subjected to third-degree in police custody.
The opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh demand that the Union Government should interfere and rein the state government which has been trying to stifle the voices against the Ruling Party. Now all eyes are on the Center to see if it comes to the rescue of the MP.
“Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju is a prospective BJP joinee right from the day he revolted against YSR Congress. It has to be seen if BJP will rescue him or at least apply brakes to Jagan’s Government. If Raju is not rescued, no leader would be interested to join BJP and fight against the state government. That would damage BJP’s political prospects in AP,” a political expert said.
In the FIR against RRR, ABN and TV5 News Channels were also named as accused. Minister of State (Home Affairs), Kishan Reddy responded to it. He told the media that he would talk to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ensure that Government does not coerce freedom of the press.
