The By-election to Tirupati Lok Sabha constituency is necessitated because of the demise of sitting YSR Congress MP Durga Prasad. The by-election may happen anytime in the next six months. There is a pressure on the Opposition to push for a contest here despite the fact the Ruling Party will have an edge in the by-election like always.
However, if the contest happens it will be a big problem for the BJP and Janasena combine. BJP is making tall claims in Andhra Pradesh Politics as if it is the next big thing. The party leaders headed by President Somu Veerraju are making statements as if TDP is a non-entity.
The election will open to the reality and in all probability, BJP candidate may come a distant third that too due to the support of Janasena. The fake image that is being propagated will get deflated if that happens. The best face-saver for BJP will be to avoid the by-election or give the seat to Janasena.
Even if Janasena‘s candidate gets less number of votes, BJP can escape the blame. The Coalition is hoping some presence in Tirupati and Srikalahasthi segments under the constituency but the Nellore constituencies will be tough to crack. If TDP is willing to let go of the seat if the family members of the deceased MP are fielded, BJP may follow the same.
