Bharatiya Janata Party which zoomed in to power in 2014 elections is yet to establish itself in South. Except for Karnataka, the movie do not have any significant presence in any state down the South. The saffron party is targeting Tamil Nadu to start Operation South.
Tamil Nadu is going to elections later this year. Jayalalithaa’s image got severely dented with the recent rains and the poor relief measures undertaken by the government. BJP wants to exploit the vacuum by roping in Kamal Hassan as their face in the state.
Earlier they have tried to woo Superstar Rajinikanth but he did not respond. The central government had appointed a committee under Senior director Shyam Benagal to suggest radical reforms in Censor Board. Kamal Hassan is made a member of this board as first step to woo him towards BJP.
