Successes in the by-elections of Dubbaka and Huzurabad have boosted the morale of the BJP in Telangana. Even though the party has lost a deposit in the Nagarjuna Sagar by-election, that has been masked by the victory in Huzurabad. It looks like BJP and the combination with a strong leader can be a lethal combo.
Accordingly, BJP is laying one more trap for KCR. Buzz is that Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy is all set to resign in January and fight bypoll on BJP ticket. But then, there is a catch 22 as well. BJP’s condition is that his brother Komatireddy Venkat Reddy should also join.
Venkat Reddy is unhappy about not getting the PCC President post but is yet to make up his mind to join BJP. In case he agrees, both may go to by-election at the same time in Munugode Assembly constituency and Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency. Along with troubling the government, BJP will also be able to checkmate Congress in the Nalgonda district.
Nalgonda is the only district where Congress is significantly strong even today. Congress will be killed and at the same time, if TRS loses two more by-elections, public perception will change drastically in favor of BJP in the run-up to 2023 assembly elections.
