BJP led Central Government is contemplating the idea of abolishing the idea of Council totally. Seven States in the country have Councils and four other state applications were pending with the Center. The Central government has written to the state to know their opinion if Councils are really necessary.
Center will take a final call on that once it receives the opinions. Previously, Council was canceled during NTR regime as he felt it is just a waste of Public money. Later Congress under the leadership of YSR revived it and used it as an asylum for Politically unemployed.
It serving the same purpose in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana even now. Chandrababu Naidu even made his son, Nara Lokesh an MLC. It has to be seen if the ruling TRS and TDP governments let go the Council.
