BJP Divided over Delimitation in the Telugu StatesIt is more or less confirmed that the Central Government is gearing up to increase the Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana much to the delight of the ruling parties of both the states. But then BJP units in AP and TS are divided over the delimitation benefits.

Telangana BJP requested the high command not to bring any amendment to the Act to enable an increase of Assembly seats as this may not bring the desirable results in favour of BJP. They feel such move will benefit TRS and Majilis.

But then Andhra Pradesh BJP is in favour of the seats increase as it would give them a chance to bargain for more seats from its alliance partner, TDP in 2019 elections. As of now, under every MP segment, there are seven Assembly segments. They will be increased to nine which will take the MLA seats in AP to 225 (175 now) and in Telangana to 153 (119 now).
