Congress Party had issued a whip to all its members of Rajya Sabha to attend and vote in favour of the private member bill about Andhra Pradesh’s Special Status. The party seem to be taking this as a serious opportunity to make a comeback in Andhra Pradesh. Congress will also talk to other partners in UPA to vote in favour of the bill.
If at all the bill is passed, it will be a major embarrassment for BJP which is the ruling party at the Center. It is interesting to see where TDP stands on this issue. Voting in favour of Congress’ MP’s bill will certainly not impress Modi and at the same time not voting or abstaining from the voting will send wrong signals to the people in the state.
In all the ways, BJP seem to have given a lifeline for Congress which was reduced to Zero from the status of the ruling party. The center on couple of occasions clarified that Andhra Pradesh can not be given Special Status. This is the same BJP which batted for 10 years Special Status when Congress promised it for 5 years.
