BJP recently created a World Record by enrolling 10 Crore members and becoming the largest party in the World. However the party’s membership claims in Andhra Pradesh seem to be more of a joke. The saffron party is claiming that it has enrolled 24 Lakh new members in Andhra Pradesh alone. This figure seem to be a very bloated one.
Telugu Desam Party with so much of grass root level structure and power in Andhra Pradesh, managed 54 Lakhs in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh put together. It is impossible for BJP having 24 Lakhs only in Andhra Pradesh. None of its leaders took the membership drive seriously and the party has only four MLAs and it did not even have leaders and cadre at grass root level to achieve this feat.
This claim by Andhra Pradesh BJP may be a face saving one before the people and their high command. It may be reminded to our readers that BJP’s National President, Amit Shah had set a target of 45 Lakh new members for the state BJP unit in the ongoing membership drive.
