Submerging villages in Kukkunooru, Velerupaadu and Boorgampaadu mandals are transferred in to Jangareddy revenue division of West Godavari. Chintoor, Vararamachandrapuram, Koonavaram and Bhadrachalam mandals (except Bhadrachalam revenue village) was brought in to Rampachodavaram Revenue division of East Godavari.

Both the collectors of East Godavari and West Godavari have issued instructions regarding the transfer. These 7 mandals get submerged when Polavaram Project is constructed. Since it will be difficult to carry out rehabilitation works in these villages if they are in Telangana. So, these mandals are transferred to Andhra Pradesh for administrative convenience. Polavaram will go down in India’s history as the largest land submergence and displacement project. Apart from 65,000 hectares of forestland set to be submerged, it involves displacement of 1.7 lakh tribals. There are also few villages in Odisha and Chhattisgarh that are going to be submerged.
