The Intensive Household Survey of Telangana has started showing up its benefits. The survey is definitely aiding the intention of weeding out the bogus ration cards in the state so that welfare schemes are more properly utlised to the deserving people. With the result of the survey, officials are able to cancel 10.13 Lakhs bogus ration cards in the state so far and this number may increase till the 15th of this month.

With the weeding of this bogus cards, government is able to save 16544 metric tonnes of rice. Officials say majority of this bogus cards (up to 2.14 Lakhs) were sanctioned during the third edition of Rachcha band program during the previous Congress government just before the general elections evidently for the electoral benefits. Government has instructed people to link their ration cards with Aadhar numbers by 15th of this month. In case the aadhar cards are not linked, those cards will be treated as bogus. The government is expecting the weeding of 70 Lakhs White Ration Cards after the total exercise.
