Beggars Clean Up to be Permanent in HyderabadThe ongoing Beggars Clean Up Operation is not aimed at pleasing Ivanka Trump advisor and daughter of the US President coming to the city for the three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) being held at HICC from November 28, Police officials say.

They say the drive will continue forever and from December 1, if you spot a beggar in the city and inform officials, you can pocket 500. This is an effort to implement the Telangana Prevention of Begging Act and a control room has been set up for information on beggars.

Beggars who are lodged in Chanchalaguda and Cherlapally enclosures after taking their fingerprints, bind over undertaking and photos. They gave an undertaking which stated that if they are caught for the second time begging, they would be arrested. If they beg again, their fingerprints will be verified with the database and arrested under the Act and the imprisonment will be six months to five years
