Battlelines Drawn for KCR's First Political Test After 2014Telangana is bracing up for a crucial election which may change its political landscape. The State Election Commission had released the schedule for the GHMC elections and the model code of conduct comes into effect immediately. The nominations will be accepted from the 18th (tomorrow) until the 20th of this month.

The nominations will be scrutinized on 21st and the candidates will be allowed to withdraw by the 24th. The polling will take place on December 1st. Repolling will happen if necessary on December 3rd. The counting will take place on December 4th and the results will be out on the same day.

For the first time in the history of the Corporation, the polling will be done using the Ballot Papers. The election will be a referendum for KCR’s rule and a grand victory here will brush off BJP‘s chances and make the Dubbaka by-election result a one-time fluke. If BJP manages to win or if it puts up an impressive show, the next 3-4 years will be tough for TRS.

KCR should also put the plan of crowning KTR on the backburner and should struggle to keep his flock together. This is something unimaginable but it has happened. It is the first political test KCR is facing ever since he came to power in the new state in 2014. By reducing TDP to a nobody and marginalizing the Congress, KCR has done everything right so far. He will now take on BJP which has the support of the Central Government. Also, this is the first election that will happen on the development card than on sentiment.
