Upon the call of KCR and Telangana Rashtra Samiti, the newly formed state is observing day long bandh today. This is in opposition to the ordinance which allows 7 Mandals of submerging villages in Bhadrachalam division, Khammam district to be added to Seema Andhra state. Bandh is continuing in all the districts of Telangana. RTC buses are confined to depots as TRS leaders are protesting before them.
On the other side, Band effect is also seen in Hyderabad. Buses are going in very limited numbers to other districts. City buses are almost stalled. TRS is demanding that the design of Polavaram project should be changed and the submerging villages should remain in Telangana. However Seemandhra leaders and experts defend that Polavaram design has been approved after review by experts and by the Central Water Commission.
