Kadiri Babu Rao - Balakrishna- TDP-Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former legislator Kadiri Babu Rao who is known to be very close to Nandamuri Balakrishna is all set to quit the party and join the Ruling YSR Congress. Babu Rao, who represented Kanigiri assembly constituency in the past always managed to get the seat on Balayya’s recommendation.

But in 2019 elections, he could not get Kanigiri seat due to the local political equations and Chandrababu sent him to Darsi where he lost. Babu Rao had lost to YSRC candidate Maddisetti Venugopal in Darsi assembly polls. He is of the opinion that he lost just because he did not get Kanigiri.

He is likely to join YSR Congress in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a day or two. A couple of months ago, there were reports of Babu Rao leaving the party but he denied. “I came into politics for Nandamuri Balakrishna. I and he are dear friends and I will always be on his side. Intentionally, a maligning campaign is happening on me on social media. I am not keen on leaving TDP,” he said to the media. But things have changed drastically now.

Baburao contested from Darsi and lost in 2004 elections. He won the Kanigiri seat in the 2009 elections but his nomination was then rejected by the Election Commission of India. In the 2014 assembly elections, he was again elected from Kanigiri. He lost once again in 2019.
