Ayodhya Judgement: Supreme Court Says #MandirWahinBanayengeBringing down curtains on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid issue, one of the longest-running title disputes in India, the Supreme Court has given its historical verdict a little while ago. Ram Janmabhoomi Trust is given the rights over the entire disputed 2.77-acre land for the construction of the Temple.

A trust will be formed with the Hindu parties and the Center will monitor the construction of the Temple. The Apex court also tried to balance things by announcing 5 acres of alternate land to the Sunni Wakf Board The CJI Ranjan Gogoi-led bench of Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer delivered a unanimous verdict on this issue.

The court ordered the Government to give five acres of land to the Sunni Wakf Board in three months’ time. Earlier, the court said that there is adequate material in the ASI report that Babri Masjid not constructed on vacant land. There was a structure underlying the disputed structure.

The court also said that the underlying structure was not an Islamic structure. “Muslims have presented no evidence of exclusive possession prior to 1857. But thereafter they offered namaz there till they were ousted in 1949 through desecration,” the judgment said.
