YSRCP-Mekapati-Vikram-Reddy-Atmakur-bypollThirty-two nominations have been filed for Atmakur by-elections. TDP and Janasena stood away from the contest with respect to Mekapati Goutham Reddy.

His brother Vikram Reddy is the YSR Congress candidate. But BJP and other small parties have fielded candidates.

Even though there is no contest, YSR Congress wants to show its authority by getting a huge majority.

As a result, for the seven mandals in the Atmakur constituency, seven MLAs and seven ministers have been made as incharges.

In this case, it is clear the amount of muscle the ruling party is going to use in the constituency.

On the other hand, BJP had fielded Bharat Kumar Yadav, its Nellore unit president, as the party’s candidate.

The candidate is also so weak that we may not even see a minimal contest.

BJP could not get any candidate to contest and had to airdrop Bharat to play the BC card.

But YSR Congress is so desperate and wants to win the constituency with a thumping majority so that it can boast about the majority achieved with no contest.

With that, the ruling party will pose as if everything is well and there is no anti-incumbency against it.
