Atal Bihari Vajpayee Admitted to AIIMSFormer Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) earlier today and the authorities say it is for a routine checkup and his condition is stable now.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit AIIMS sometime today to inquire about Vajpayee’s health.

The 93-year-old Vajpayee is the oldest living former Prime Minister of India but has been politically inactive since suffering a stroke in 2009. The stroke had impaired his speech and had confined him to a wheelchair. The BJP leader was the first non-Congress Prime Minister to serve a full term, from 1999 to 2004.

He was recently conferred with the Bharat Ratna and the President had to go to his house to give the award. According to a bulletin released by AIIMS, A team of Doctors under the supervision of Dr Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS are conducting the necessary tests.
