Assembly to go for appeal over Roja caseAndhra Pradesh Assembly had decided to appeal against Hyderabad High Court’s stay on the suspension of YSR Congress MLA, Roja. The government is planning to go for an appeal in the case through Assembly Secretary. Government is of the opinion that according to rule 212 of Indian Constitution, Courts can not interfere in the functioning of the Assembly.

Assembly affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu met the Speaker and Chief Minister over the issue. The Speaker is likely to take the advice of the legal experts before proceeding on the issue. On the other side, the high court in its verdict also clarified that the court do not endorse Roja’s behaviour in the court.

The government is likely to use this point to pursue the case further. It is known that Roja is caught on video using some very personal comments on TDP MLA Anitha and disgraceful name calling of the Chief Minister. The all party committee appointed by the speaker to look in to the issue, also seconded the one year suspension awarded to Roja.
